New Parallel Runway Project Approved by the Australian Government on 18 September 2007 Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has welcomed the announcement by the Australian Government, through the Minister for Transport and Regional Services, the Hon. Mark Vaile and the Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull, approving plans (subject to conditions) for the development of a New Parallel Runway (NPR) for Brisbane Airport. The government approval follows its assessment of an Environmental Impact Statement and Major Development Plan for the $1 billion project, which was the subject of a robust and inclusive two-year public engagement period. View more View the Approved EIS/MDP Background and Need Volume A of the EIS/MDP contains an overview of the New Parallel Runway project View Volume A Airport and Surrounds Volume B of the EIS/MDP reports on “ground level” aspects of the New Parallel Runway project, assessing impacts on airport land, its fringes and surrounding areas, as well as socio-economic impacts. View Volume B Middle Banks, Moreton Bay Volume C of the EIS/MDP reports on investigations linked to the proposed dredging of 15 million cubic metres of sand from Middle Banks in Moreton Bay. View Volume C Airpsace This Volume of the EIS/MDP reports on “Airspace“ aspects of the NPR project, assessing changes to the airspace architecture to accommodate the new runway, including changes to flight paths and community exposure to aircraft noise. View Volume D Supplementary Report The Supplementary Report addresses all comments received during the EIS/MDP public comment period from 1 November 2006 to 6 February 2007.
